OPD: Outpatient Department. An OPD is a hospital department designed to be a first contact point between the patient and the hospital staff. A Patient who goes first time to the hospital, he directly goes to OPD and then the OPD decides to which department a patient should go.

This department diagnose generally those patients who are suffering from any type of disease which can be diagnosed just by taking medicine and they do not require extra medical care like superivision by doctors and nurses in hospital wards.

For example if someone is suffering from just a mild fever so he will visit OPD department for his diagnose. And there doctor will just give him medicine and allow him to go back home and take care of his health.
